George Dikaios
Dr George Dikaios is a Marie Curie Postdoctoral Fellow at Leiden University in The Netherlands. Prior to that, he held teaching positions at the Department of Ports Management & Shipping and the Department of Political Science & Public Administration of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece. He has also been a postdoctoral researcher in both Departments. He is also a Senior Research Fellow at the UNESCO Chair on Climate Diplomacy and the Hellenic Foundation of European & Foreign Policy (ELIAMEP).
Dikaios holds a PhD in political science with an emphasis on European public policy, diplomacy, and international organizations, using climate change norms as an example and their influence on international transport modes, namely, shipping and aviation. His PhD was published by Palgrave Macmillan in 2024, titled EU Climate Diplomacy towards the IMO and ICAO. His research has been published, among others, in Politics & Governance, Media & Communication, and the Journal of Shipping and Trade. He mainly explores how shipping /maritime transport is being influenced by and changing due to its climatization.
He has also participated in a series of research and educational projects. Some examples are the Jean Monnet Module ‘European Climate Diplomacy’, the Jean Monnet Module ‘European Climate Policy and Diplomacy in Southeast Europe’, and the ICOS-Towards a functional continuum operating system, in which he examined the policymaking and decisionmaking aspects of AI. Additionally, he has been awarded several scholarships from different institutions, such as the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, the Ryiochi Sasakawa Young Leadership Fellowship Fund, and the A. G. Leventis Foundation.
